If you really want to get to know this countryside of wind, water, and wide-open meadows, be sure to bring your walking boots along on your Kinderdijk visit! The polders of Alblasserwaard and the Green Heart of South-Holland are riddled with enough beautiful hiking trails to fill an entire holiday, although there are plenty of great short strolls available for anyone who just wants a bit of fresh air.
There are various walking route books available at souvenir shop De Molenhoek. De Molenhoek is an ideal starting point to start your tour through typical Dutch landscape.
Tip: Kinderdijkpad (7.5 km) runs right through World Heritage Kinderdijk. Are you more into the nature? Walking route ‘Polderhoppen & Vogel-spotten (17 km), is highly recommended!
