Drop-off and boarding zone right on the verge of Kinderdijk World Heritage
Our drop-off and boarding zone is meant specifically for use by coaches. Here, drivers can let their passengers exit the coach and drive on to the special coach parking in Nieuw-Lekkerland. Parking a coach in the Kinderdijk village is not allowed, to reduce the impact of traffic on local residents.
Coach parking lot
The drop-off and boarding zone was built in 2017, aiming specifically to accommodate the hundreds of coaches visiting Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage every year. Here, coach drivers can drop off their passengers and continue to nearby Nieuw-Lekkerland where they have ample parking space. After completing their visit, passengers can be picked up at the same location. Coaches are not allowed to park in the village of Kinderdijk, as this would increase traffic burdening for residents.
How does it work?
The new drop-off and boarding zone was designed for ease of use by any coach driver. A special zone has been arranged right near the World Heritage entrance, at less than three hundred metres from the former parking lot. Here, coaches can stop to drop off their passengers, providing all visitors with a clear route leading straight into the windmill area. On busy days, a parking attendant is on site to ensure smooth traffic.
From the drop-off and boarding zone, coach drivers can proceed to the special coach parking lot in Nieuw-Lekkerland, some three kilometres down the road, where they can relax as they wait for their passengers to complete their visit and request to be picked up.
A small town with a big World Heritage site – that calls for some smart parking solutions!
Address and GPS coordinates
Kinderdijk is a small town, with limited options for accommodating heavy traffic. To prevent any congestion or traffic jams, all coaches are required to proceed immediately to the special coach parking facility once their passengers have left the vehicle. This parking facility is located some 3.4 kilometres down the road in Nieuw-Lekkerland, at less than five minutes from the main entrance. Here, drivers can brew some coffee or grab a glass of water as they relax and wait for their passengers. The Nieuw-Lekkerland parking lot is situated on the Veerweg 6. GPS coordinates are as follows:

Stay in touch with your passengers
As soon as your passengers have completed their World Heritage visit, they can use the same drop-off and boarding zone to get back on the coach. To successfully collect your passengers, please make sure that you stay in touch with them over the course of their visit. Appoint one passenger to phone the driver as they make their way to the exit. This will ensure that everyone is at the drop-off and boarding zone at the same time. Together, we can make sure that everyone can reach Kinderdijk World Heritage by coach with maximum ease and comfort.
