Take the best route to Kinderdijk across the water
Nothing beats making a trip to the windmills by water, and the best way to do that is by using the Waterbus. Take your bicycle with you as you hop on board in Rotterdam or Dordrecht, and set sail for Kinderdijk while you enjoy the stunning views of the rivers that made Holland what it is today.
A course across the water
At Kinderdijk World Heritage, everything revolves around the water; including the best ways to get there. If you hop aboard the Waterbus in Rotterdam or Dordrecht, you’ll find yourself standing between the mills in just about half an hour – and you’ll get there in style too!
The smartest move for anyone visiting Kinderdijk by Waterbus and the Driehoeksveer ferry is to buy an all-in-one ticket. This is your return trip ticket that will also will grant you access to both the museum windmills and the film at the visitors centre. You can purchase these all-in-one tickets either online or onboard the Waterbus. (Not in January!) Please note that you’ll only be able to pay in cash on the Waterbus.
Throughout the winter months, there is no direct connection to Kinderdijk from Rotterdam or Dordrecht. If you plan to use Waterbus Line 20, you will have to transfer to the Driehoeksveer ferry at the stop in Ridderkerk. All in all, the trip from Dordrecht or Rotterdam will take about forty minutes. This is now possible during weekends as well. An alternative point to get off board is at the Kade stop in Alblasserdam: from there, it’s just fifteen minutes to Kinderdijk by bicycle.
